Court set up fees for each stage of small claim procedure.  If claimant start claim in paper form then it will be cost expensive then using MCOL.

*Second number is the fee for small claim started by post in paper form.

If you find mistake or wish to amend small claim after claim has been issued you would have to pay £255 for Application notice, court form N244.

Defendant and claimant should choose option in Direction Questionnaire is to settle case using Free Phone Mediation Service provided by HM Court and Tribunal Service. In case of successful mediation claimant will avoid of paying hearing fee.

If settlement didn’t reached before hearing the claimant has to pay fee for each hearing and depends on claimed amount:

If default judgment was issued due to absence of reply from Defendant, he could set aside CCJ by filing application notice form N244 and paying fee £255.

Appeal against CCJ in small claim court is fee £120.

Claimant may refund hearing fee if notify county court in writing about discontinue small claim or settlement at least 7 calendar days before date of hearing.

Individual may apply for help with court fee using form EX160 and information in guidance EX160A where is given the conditions of providing the court fee remission.
